Styling the stars - Chalay Thaay Saath

Palwasha Yousuf successfully styled the entire cast of 2017 Pakistani film, Chalay Thay Saath, directed by Umer Adil and starring Syra Yousuf, Mansha Pasha, Zhalay Sarhadi, Kent Leung and Osama Tahir amongst others. Undertaking this extraordinary feat with verve and vigor, Palwasha played the role of head stylist, managing the wardrobes, hair and makeup of each star on set. She directed the talented makeup artists from the Nabila Team for creating the required looks, which were on-point and on-trend.

We all know it takes a certain stamina to withstand all-day shoots which start practically at the crack of dawn and drag on till nearly midnight. Yet Palwasha's passion and motivation aren't easily deterred by something so mundane as exhaustion. Some might say this go-getter thrives, under pressure, meeting each challenge head on.

"I had the opportunity to explore a wide range of style aesthetics..."

Tackling the wardrobe and defining the overall styles of all the various actors, each exemplifying a unique character, was something Palwasha found thrilling. "There was never a dull moment on set. It was highly enjoyable for me to stretch my creative muscles, designing the wardrobe of each actor, as they were so different from one another. I loved the opportunity to create looks for a wide range of settings and locations, from outdoor adventures to a formal wedding scene. I managed to achieve the right looks, while remaining within the constraints of a narrow budget, so it was a win-win."
